Books-name - and the Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland books
Lately I'm always a knowledge gap and I stumbled this special ignorance very dreadful, but I am currently looking for the right solution.
Perhaps it is because I am working actively on my children's and youth book series more. Or at the reading contest. Or general information on the (meinen!) issue, but I have a feeling that I so some serious knowledge gaps in real-time classics have the child and youth literature. The worst have caught the English, for I have neither "read Alice in Wonderland" by Lewis Carroll or "The Wizard of Oz" by L. Frank Baum. When you consider how many other writers have referred to these works, I think my offense very very very bad and I'm eager to finally understand all the references to it in silence and smile.
Now I am faced with a huge, huge mountain of different issues, constraints and possible versions and I can not really decide. It is certain that I would like each of the English original and a good German translation. The books are unabridged, illustrated challenging and satisfying my searches for books bibliophile.
have so far I first rummaged through the various German editions of Alice in Wonderland. liked best about the illustrations by Jassen Ghiuselev that has brought the Aufbau Verlag in 2000 to the market. Unfortunately I could not figure out yet whether the text is reduced because the output from Knesebeck-Verlag, which appeared in 2010, promotes specific order, a "bibliophile unabridged edition for sale." Unfortunately, I find the illustrations by Robert Ingpen not half as exciting as that of Ghiuselev.
Twelfth Episode: Known images and primary textbooks of the Weimar Republic
Dass die Biene Maja das bestverkaufte des Jahres 1926 war, ist vielleicht wegen der vorvorherigen Folge nicht more surprising, bring me much more likely that the second place a picture book landed: » The Häschenschule " Fritz Koch-Gotha and Albert Sixtus is illustrated wonderfully pretty and still available. Maybe you know this » funny picture book " itself or from your own childhood?
And in general could be animals very well as a picture-book characters to market.
» Das lustige 1x1 für unsere ABC-Schützen « (1929) von Getrud Caspari gewann so many small children as new readers.
Review - The Three Top Secret Edition?! "Brainwash -" E
I'm a big fan since childhood of the three? - The most famous detective trio from Rocky Beach. It started with the books, increased with the music tapes (no CDs!) And ended with a live tour of the screaming alarm clock. I am therefore pleased, if I may once again reviewing a book by Justus Jonas, Peter Shaw and Bob Andrews for a Books-Media magazine. This time the Top Secret edition was in it.
"Brainwash - prisoner is" thought a very exciting event, the number of new sites of the three? illuminated.
Can Justus, Peter and Bob resist the temptations?

The Iceland-ABC for the Frankfurt Book Fair 2011 - Reading Competition 2011
Ich hatte viele Stunden geübt and me at the last moment something very strange in his head: The passage in which the skills of the men are listed, I read in a droning tone. Stupid idea because of my German teacher there was therefore only a 2 - and my desire to represent the reading competition of the Association of German Book Trade my class was, the burst does not matter though, because the competition I live now. at in a completely different function.
two years I sat as a student in the jury of the contest, founded in 1959 reading. At our school, the jury was composed of a teacher, someone from the Parents Association und einem Schüler zusammen, und meine ehemalige Mathematiklehrerin erinnerte sich an mich als eine Schülerin, die gerne las und Geschichten schrieb.
Das Vorlesen des Lieblingsbuchs in der Class should be fun and give to friends new reading tips. In addition, the incentive is great to win the competition and the first class, and later the school, then the circle, the district and eventually perhaps even to represent the state. As the President (in this case, Christian Wulff) the patronage of the reading competition, the final event will take place with the national winners in the Bellevue Palace in Berlin.
Yesterday I sat in many years on the jury - but this time it went around the circle decision. Exciting! I was looking forward to see the differences between the classes and the school winners. Much has changed, however, not. Only the choice of reading was different and I enjoyed pre-built judging sheet. Fine - the optimization of the workflow has reached the market association.
Together with the co-founder of a reading club and a bookseller, we participated in the meeting room of an art nouveau villa Square, a cultural center houses a bookstore. In the white space conquered parents, teachers, relatives and friends quickly the chairs for themselves. For the twelve youths, there was a strict schedule. First, each participant placed in a few sentences from his book, said something about the author and filed the passage in the book context. Then had three minutes long gelesen werden.
Schauspielerische Darbietungen? Einen korrekten Zeitplan? Nein, eher weniger. If the text is submitted safely and smoothly? If the pronunciation is clear the appropriate pace and sit the accents in the right place? If these conditions, there are many points for the reading technique. Much more challenging and imaginative, especially when it comes to text layout. If the creepy scene in the book provides skill and whisper the main characters in the dialogues in fact if it is required? Does the actor, however exaggerated and unnatural, there are point deductions! Understanding of the text refers to the book launch before reading, read aloud the selection of the location and timing. This criterion is of importance in the second part of the competition a big role in have the children recite a completely foreign text.
Some could read. Other children, however prayed down their lyrics by heart - we have seen in poor readers, however, self-confident students shone ... came to the foreign text. This broke some completely together, stuttered failed on long, unfamiliar words. This task failed the pure hard work and made the reader a narrative space that sensed the text with a look and feel and foresight to understand all the nuances, hints and moods. This return or progress observed, I found enormously exciting. One of the main student section from scary good. A blond boy who prepared the Text excitement sounded like he came straight from the soccer field could breathe at last the foreign text. However, it won one division increasing the dialogue with foresight and a thick fatty tumors Aunty, gleefully described how he himself was the surprise in his face.
In three weeks I'm back in the same place, perhaps sitting in the same place, with blank score sheets in hand, a red clipboard and a red pen. Next to me, the papers are piled with notes and gekrakelten the glass with water gurgling softly. And I will listen to them - the story of Christa Ludwig, Isabel Abedi, Kai Meyer and Uwe Timm. We'll see if I may again run over by a potter would, as I have experienced a massive scale, many years ago. But above all I'm going to sit there and listen to the children because I wonder how their voices, the book pages of her letters are dead to life.
at a seminar I had Friedmar Apel's novel Nanette read memory. " I knew neither the author nor the title and jumped into the deep end. The immersion into the world of synesthete Nanette, who is sitting in a psychiatric hospital and tries to remember her past, has paid off.
seen at her parents house she disputes with their parents. Nanette mother hates it and let the frustration out of her father, who, as scholars in their eyes, worth nothing. Nanette describes how she experienced her childhood in Berlin, as their ability, words, numbers, letters, and all the senses to perceive color, it affects the basic school and how they can remember all during their training period as a bookseller, book title. The reader moves with her in Berlin by a local pub to the next scene, her experience with the celebrities and the whole Kulturschickeria (by Max Frisch to Udo Waltz), and also met Nanette debauched love life. She gets to know Dutschke, who falls in love with her. She travels to Frankfurt, where her father an art exhibition has organized, and from here begins perhaps the whole mess. Maybe even earlier.
Between the flashbacks (they must write down their memories) Nanette analyzed together with the Russian psychiatrist Professor Luria their physical and mental condition. Gradually comes out that Nanette is imprisoned for a crime in the hospital to which she remembers only slowly.
The book is exciting - in many ways. The topic of synaesthesia is exotic, the Berlin of the 80s/90s is charming with all its colorful personalities and anecdotes. It is a journey into the past, a trip to various pubs, bars, lounges literature and famous people from real life. The whole attitude to life comes alive in Nanette descriptions.
Living History, but especially by the main character Nanette. It is impossible to figure out is also authentic. Is particularly interesting is the question of how reliable Nanette as a narrative figure - after she has lain in a vegetative state following the mysterious accident, is in a psychiatric hospital, takes medication and is due to unidentified problems, psychosis, trauma therapy. How clear and true, their conclusions that it draws at the end and drives to radical actions? Only their match now and then very childish and simple language in some places not to dieser ansonsten intelligenten Gedächtniskünstlerin.

Students have just not always easy and comfortable. Fortunately soon are vacation - maybe I will (very owl-standard) can make up for a few days sleep. A look at my schedule compliant? With pleasure.
the weekend and in the days around me I flitze often at events with my Canny through the area. As a freelance journalist for a local newspaper you can experience many things. On Sunday there was a football tournament of the F1 and F2 Youth, on Saturday a handball tournament for the sports section on Monday for a romantic Valentine's Day concert with guitar, in candle light and love poems of an evangelical church, heute ein Wochenmarkt und die Einladung zum närrischen Heringsessen piepste heute hartnäckig in meinem Handy herum.
Nicht nur die Fertigstellung der Spring titles currently runs at full speed, but also the trappings. The big word for me are currently advertising. Stickers? Postcards? Leporello? Currently pile up the jobs. After the draft is putting in a layout program, then the content is entered, which must be requested very often the first place. Now and then I sit for another publisher, for whom I work also, different variations. After the final decision to follow the fine-tuning and the text work until the data are eventually ready for printing. On Friday I will put a sticker quietschgrün for the first time see themselves and am curious if the requested spot color has been taken well is. Without a calibrated monitor or a Pantone fan, this is always difficult to assess.
sit On Sunday, I (after two flea market dates for the newspaper) in a bookstore, located in a beautiful Art Nouveau villa on Main and will sit on the jury to the reading competition of the Association of German Book Trade. So far I have participated as a jury member, only twice - but on the very first level. Now I'm looking forward to the small final, that is because: District decision.
I am currently commuting to swim on, and balance between studying, my business and my private life. Fortunately, after this week begins the lecture-free time for Me: With two papers, more work and an interesting development that seems to arise for me in terms of placement of fortune or a whole rat's tail of organization behind it is. I hope you forgive me, therefore my irregular posts.

have at this point I have long enjoyed. I wanted to dive into a world of evil - and was from Emily Brontë's "Wuthering Heights" (1847) quite surprised. So evil and mean and state I have now really is not her novel.
In "Wuthering Heights, the story of the families Earnshaw, Linton and Heathcliff over three generations out accompanied. Starting with the old Mr. Earnshaw, who brought a foundling from Liverpool in his family. His children Catherine and Hindley were different with the new brother Heathcliff to: Hindley was jealous, bullied and tormented him, Catherine other hand, found in him a kindred spirit. On Trushcross Grange grown to Edgar and Isabella Linton, and make friends with Hindley, Catherine and Heathcliff. When Mr. and Mrs. Earnshaw die, Hindley is the master of the paternal estate Wuthering Heights. Gekränkt verlässt er den Hof und kehrt wenige Jahre später wieder, um nicht nur die Ehe von Edgar und Catherine in Gefahr to bring, but also destroy the lives of Isabella Linton and Hareton children, Catherine and Linton from the next generation.
draws on 450 pages in my edition back in the translation of Michael Messner - and it is wonderful, great and bitter. Brontë creates characters who in their behavior or their very nature are evil through and through and view or not at all too late their error. As readers, we get no insight into the inner lives of the characters and can only interpret their behavior and to guess their motives, for the complete story is inspired by a tenant of Trushcross Grange, all as an outsider during the third generation experienced. He in turn learns everything through the stories of the maid and nanny from Catherine. This narrative perspective is based on a distance to the figures and is reliable in any case. The story reads well and smoothly, and the family tree in my edition is extremely important to be able to survey the entire constellation of characters. I especially like are the fantastic elements that have provoked an intense atmosphere and of course even Heathcliff, the mysterious stranger with the black hair and dark skin. Only the last pages to attract a lot easier and I Linton, the son of Isabella and Heathcliff, really hate learned. Fortunately this died fast ...
"Wuthering Heights" I recommend you. Readers who love large family novels, which also still in the Victorian England of the 19th Century play, will have their fun with them.
Elfte Folge: Bekannte Kinderbücher der Weimarer Republik
The Weimar Republic brought in children's and young people produced many a bestseller that has until now not as popular as little, even if the knowledge these books to be strongly influenced by Disney productions. Other successful authors Rudyard Kipling include (1865-1936), Alan Alexander Mila (1882-1956), Lewis Carroll (1832-1898) and Carlo Collodi (1826-1890). Are they not you, or only partially known? I I'm actually pretty sure you can do with all their stories somewhat.
Rudyard Kipling wrote "The Jungle Book." In this story, an Indian boy at the center, who grew up among animals. The author wanted to achieve a naturalistic representation of animals and life with them. Entirely different set decades later is the well-known Disney film, in which the animals were humanized. Until today, the jungle book available in many publishing houses, such as Dressler Reclam.
Alan Alexander Mila wrote "Pooh, the bear," and thus led for the first time a teddy bear as a character in children's literature. The narrator takes the perspective of the clever bears, but the little boy Christopher Robin is always superior to him. Largely because of the many language games, it pays to read the original works. Lewis Carroll wrote
"Alice" in Wonderland. His work is regarded as a roman a clef for the English literature. Alice finds out the girl in the story where it stands, even between a dream world and the harsh world of adults. As an art work of Carroll's tale will continue the tradition of Romanticism.
And Carlo Collodi? The name has so far said nothing, but this Italian writer's 1883 The Adventures of Pinocchio written, "in 1913 in Germany published.
The best-known writers of the 20th Erich Kaestner century (1899-1974) was. A few taste? Appeared in 1929 the Berlin city novel "Emil and the Detectives", 1931 "spot and Anton", 1933 "The Flying Classroom". During National Socialism, he had a prohibition on writing, but remained in Germany and published under a pseudonym texts in magazines and newspapers.
In the next article, I agree to the picture books that were published during the Weimar Republic. Then the children and young people show their dark side - the National Socialism.
