Unter dem Überbegriff "Historical" is made of interested hikers to the historic economic life of the region known and led to one of the largest known Roman molten iron, the mining of iron ore mining sites, the remains of a Roman manor house and various interesting landscape conservation jewels. A second trail, the "Köhler and Loheweg" takes the hiker also in the history of the pre-industrial economy of the Eifel. Until the 19th Century smoke into the Eifel and thus also in the woods near the coal pile and Ramer Bach was the tannin of oak bark (tan) for the tanning of the heavy sole leather from the trees peeled.
Rohmischbich, Ramer Bach and the Ramholzwirtschaft

The Ramholzgewinnung was in the Seven Mountains and in the lower Middle Rhine area a common economy. As Ramholz one called piles to tie the vines in the vineyards. The name comes from the Latin ramus = the road. The same root appears still in its place names Ramer Bach (district of Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler) and Ramer village was near Bonn
Ramholz generated by the heads of beech trees in about 2 m height. At the interfaces provided the booking number of branches, the desired straight up. These branches were cut off again once they had reached a diameter of 5 to 7 cm and were thus useful as a vine poles. In addition to vineyard posts were created in this way firewood. Probably the only reason Ramholzbuchen have been beheaded in greater height, so the sooner many do not bite into the wood was driven cattle, the young shoots.
first news on Ramholzwirtschaft are already in the 13th Century. In the Seven Mountains, this form of economy until the early 20th Century abandoned. Links Rheinisch relics of this economic system are still in private forests at Remagen Sinzig and present, here the trees were formerly beheaded at knee height, so that now sticks with about 50 cm in height visible.

pile, Old High German Westphal, Pohl dialect, is the Latin palus, 2 Pali case, the shift of p in Anlauter palus to ph proves phal that the word was taken very early in the German language. In the Ahr Valley and the Middle Rhine is called the winery the Wingert Pohl also Rohm or cream , frame, frames, and the Beanstalk is Bunnerohm .
Rahm kommt vom lat. ramus = Zweig, Ast. An den Kammerbau erinnern noch viele Flurnamen im Moselgebiet, and the Ahr may perhaps the term fermentation chamber in the vicinity of the Walporzheimer Bahrihofs (ie one of the best vineyards of the Ahr) are brought in connection therewith. At the chamber and frame the vines grow up high, forming a lush foliage, make a larger, but poor harvest and require a deep, fertile soil, so that these modes of education are not suitable for our area. Today it is increasingly transferred to the espalier wire.
